One of the most fascinating and majestic wonders of the ancient world are the Pyramids of Giza Egypt.

Set in the dusty and mystic desert, under the hot Egyptian sun, the whole scenery looks like it jumped out of a storybook from the old, old days. It’s hard to believe that such an amazing scenery is only minutes away from a bustling modern city like Cairo!

The Pyramids of Giza Egypt is the only wonder from the ancient world that still exists up to this day.

Is Egypt Safe?

Now, I know most of you are probably thinking that Egypt is a dangerous Middle Eastern country that’s unsafe for tourists, let alone solo female travelers.

After all, that’s what you hear in the media constantly. Well, it is not. At least not less safe than Europe nowadays, in my opinion. You see terrorist attacks happening in Europe all the time…

I know some of you don’t like me suggesting people to travel to Egypt at the moment, but I can only advise you not to listen to the media too much.

In fact, I moved to Egypt as a solo girl all by myself and feel much safer here than in my hometown in Germany.

 

Advice For Solo Female Travelers

There’s no reason for you to be scared traveling to Cairo as a woman (even by yourself).

Yes, it is a big crowded city and probably some men will risk a second glance at you. Try to take it as a compliment (after all, how often do you experience that in Europe?) and don’t let this affect you negatively.

Of course, you should dress moderately – walking around in your sexy mini skirt isn’t a very considerate thing to do in a Muslim country. After all, covering your shoulders and knees is not that hard.

If you want to avoid flirts, wear a ring and say you’re married. But please, please don’t refuse to talk to Egyptians.

This is one of the most welcoming countries on earth. Arabs are famous for their amazing hospitality and you should definitely accept having tea with the locals. You won’t regret it, promise!

Just use common sense and you’ll have an amazing time! Give Egypt a chance! Who knows, you might just end up experiencing one of the best trips of your life!

There’s No Better Time To Travel To Egypt Than Now!

One of the reasons why this is the perfect time to travel to Egypt is exactly the media situation.

Because most people are afraid to come here, there aren’t that many people flocking the popular tourist sites. Egypt Tailor Made was so kind to take me on a tour to this magical place.

Kiss The Sphinx

The Giza Pyramid complex is located just at the outskirts of the Egyptian capital Cairo.

Set in the desert, it comprises three Pyramids that each have a mini-complex of its own and the Sphinx.

The Sphinx is an iconic Giant statue of the mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human. I mean who doesn’t know the famous sphinx?

Many people believe the human head to be that of the Pharaoh Khafre. Either way, a kiss is a must!

 

Facts About The Pyramids of Giza Egypt

The Pyramids were constructed about 2000 B.C. The Pyramid of Khufu (or the Pyramid of Cheops) is the oldest and the largest among the three pyramids.

It initially stood at 481 feet and was the tallest man-made structure for about 3,800 years. Now, due to factors like erosion and other natural causes, it stands at 455 feet.

The other two, Khafre’s pyramid complex and Menkaure’s pyramid complex were named after the pharaohs that had it built. Each complex consists of temples, statues, and tombs.

There are many theories about why the pyramids were constructed in the first place. The most accepted one is that they were constructed as a tomb for the great pharaohs that ordered them built.

The theory as to how they were constructed, on the other hand, is still one that many discuss and debate over even up to this day.

Many theories abound as to how is it that these massive structures were made especially during ancient times. In those old days, there certainly weren’t any modern construction tools, materials and machinery like there are today.

The Great Pyramid alone is comprised of more than two million heavy blocks, how on earth could that have been possible to lift and made in the ancient world?

 

How The Heck Were the Pyramids Built???

The building time was twenty years and it took about 120,000 of workers to finish these giants. A common theory is that they were built by Hebrew slave labor, as popularized by many Hollywood films.

In reality, there has never really been any proof of slave labor. In the nineties, tombs were found near the pyramids and it was theorized that they were that of the workers who died while building the pyramids of Giza Egypt.

All evidence now suggests that it was actually thousands of skilled and unskilled Egyptian laborers.

Every two months of the year, farmlands were flooded by the Nile which made all work in the farm useless.

During these three months in the year where they could not work in the farm, they were working on the pyramids instead – building the grand structures of the pharaohs.

The pharaoh provided food in exchange for their manpower. Let this sink in for a second – these massive constructions were built within 20 years, yet they were working for only three months every year. 

Basically, it just took them five years!!! Though there was no slave labor, it can’t be denied that it was very hard labor.

Their skeletons show signs of arthritis, bone dysfunctionalities and bad general health due to the harsh conditions of their work.
