5 Mind-Blowing Secret Beaches In Egypt That You’ve Probably Never Heard About

Egypt is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful travel destinations worldwide.

The ancient history of all the temples and pyramids, the mystery of the Nile River and some of the best beaches and underwater life you’ll ever see.

It’s a real shame that the media makes Egypt sound so dangerous (which it really isn’t!) but let’s look at the bright side:

If you’re traveling to Egypt, you won’t see as many tourists blocking your view than in Southeast Asia e.g.

Besides Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh, there’s also a lot of less known, almost secret beaches in Egypt that you’ve probably never heard about.

And the best thing is: You will not have to share these beaches with tons of other tourists.

If you like to explore little-known places, these 5 mind-blowing secret beaches in Egypt should definitely be on your bucket list.

1. Ras Hankorab (aka Sharm El-Luli)

It’s hard to believe these pristine waters are almost completely empty given that Ras Hankorab can easily compete with the white sandy Maldives beaches.

Around 60km south of Marsa Alam, this is one of the most beautiful secret beaches I’ve ever been to (and I’ve been to 53 countries!).

Thanks to its location inside the national park Wadi El-Gemal, the area is completely undeveloped – no shops, no restaurants, no hotels.

Especially during low tide it’s like a lagoon that allows you to walk basically right into the middle of the Sea – perfect for amazing photos that will make your friends at home super jealous 😉

 

2. Blue Lagoon

Imagine waking up in a cozy hut right between a turquoise lagoon and glowing desert mountains – this is the beauty of the Blue Lagoon in South Sinai.

It’s one of my favorite weekend getaways because of its simplicity, laid-back vibe and unbelievably beautiful views. It’s a secluded beach that mostly only kitesurfers or regular Dahab visitors know about and it’s not easy to reach.

You’ll either have to take a 4×4 car from Nuweiba or go via boat, camel or foot from the Blue Hole since it’s not accessible by car from Dahab.

I recommend spending at least one night and hiking the surrounding mountains or paying a visit to Ras Abu Galum, a tiny Bedouin village close-by.

3. Qulaan

This secret beach is located in the protected area Wadi El-Gemal south of Marsa Alam (just like Ras Hankorab), perfect for a day trip.

What makes it unique is not only that very few people know about it, but also that it’s one of the few places in Egypt that has large mangrove trees growing in the salt water as well as 140 other types of plants.

If you’re tired of tanning on the beach, go for a hike in the huge, breathtaking protected area and try to spot some rare birds.

 

4. Ras Mohamed

Ras Mohamed is a protected area on the tip of the Sinai Peninsula, a great day trip from Sharm El-Sheikh and Dahab.

There are a few secret beaches here where you will most likely barely meet any other tourists. I recommend to spend at least one night here, the peace and tranquility will set your stress levels to 0 immediately.

No cars, no people – only the soft waves and a sky full of millions of glowing stars.

And of course, the diving is absolutely breathtaking, some of the most beautiful dive sites in the world are located in Ras Mohammed.

5. Agiba Beach

Only 24 km west from Marsa Matrouh lies Agiba Beach – the only North Coast Beach on this list.

Agiba translates to “miracle” in Arabic, and when you go you will understand why.

The magnificent cove that’s only accessed from a small path leading down from a cliff top provides a one-of-a-kind view.

About 2 km from the hilltop lies a coast of accessible yet almost secret beach which is known as Agiba Beach.

The water is crystal turquoise blue and the cove features beautiful reefs, making it a perfect place for amazing underwater sightseeing.

Agiba Beach is the only beach I haven’t been to myself yet, which is why I don’t have more pictures of it, unfortunately.
